To the Esteemed Gentlemen of the Royal Explorers' Society

Dear Sirs,

I am writing this note in the hopes that some supply ship will soon arrive in order to both help rebuild the posts and colonies here in India, and thus be able to convey the message back to you. We have elected to travel into Africa, as I am guessing you anticipated based upon your last message to us. We will be attempting to complete some of the goals related to the exploration of the continent on our way, particularly as we will need to restock our supplies along the voyage due to the general lack of stocks to be found in Australia or India, so our voyage will have to be very much station to station, with a good deal of foraging.

In addition to these necessities, we are still firmly set upon our original mission of exploration and mapping. By the time we next return to England, we will have fully circumnavigated the globe, an accomplishment in its own right, and will attempt to return to England with as much evidence of what lies in the deepest reaches of Africa as we are able to.

When we arrive, we will be investigating the accounts that a dirigible was seen moving towards Algiers. I truly hope that those rumors are entirely untrue, as such a thing, even for a man such as Bartholomew York seems unthinkable, but we do not currently have the supplies or proximity necessary to make a direct trip to the area in question. It is hoped in the meanwhile that enough people in England's government and military might see the consequences of such a possibility, and see to investigation somewhat sooner than we will be able. Significantly greater numbers and force than we have directly available would also seem needed if the rumors of the current rulers of the region are true.

I am certain you have received the reports here, and there is no doubt that England is in a time of great need as well, but its colonies are in danger of collapsing entirely should they not receive some form of aid. Though I doubt any such thing is needed, I am nonetheless including a few pictures of the fields and towns of New South Wales, and the colonial outposts here in India in hopes it might persuade someone to send help to these struggling people all the sooner once any kind of excess is available.

Currently, there is very little else to be reported of consequence, though we should very much appreciate some kind of word on our political status, as it is hoped that we might have an opportunity to return home within the course of the next year. I understand that there is always difficulty in resolving such matters, particularly with Spain in a state of turmoil, but it had been hoped that your last notice might have included some idea of where those particular relations stood.

I cannot yet give you an estimate as to when we might be traveling homeward.
